Disbelief

You may or may not have heard that there were riots in several places in town over the weekend.
It all started out with a peaceful protest against police action from last week, in which a man was shot dead and a policeman injured by a bullet.
It then escalated into extraordinary acts of violence and looting that had little or nothing more to do with the original events.  I may be wrong, but like the Vancouver riots, this feels like the turmoil is caused by opportunistic individuals and is not necessarily politically motivated. Many families and business owners have lost their homes and livelihoods.  The rioting has continued into today and is diverting from the questions that still need answering about the shootings.  I find this all utterly demoralizing.
