I was not very happy with how it turned out, but my husband said it was fine (though, to be honest, how biased is his opinion?!), so I did include this first baby in the package. May my swap partner be accepting of it...
I pretty quickly decided that it would be best to also send another, better brooch, and made this next one, which I thought turned out okay, if not perfect. But at least I am willing to show you the back of it, which I could not bring myself to do with No 1... I found the pattern for the wreath here.
And here they are, side by side. Wreath Brooch and her slightly more special sister Wonky Brooch are now snuggled up in a parcel together, and on their way to Australia. God speed! I hope at least one of them will be liked. If both are, all the better - for my cracked crafting confidence as well as for the receiver, as I hear that she likes to wear brooches a lot.
It was such fun to take part in a swap, and to see what everybody came up with. Thank you, Susie, for organizing it!
I giggled a few times through this post :-) What beautiful brooches you are sending your partner Annika, I'm sure they will both be treasured. Thanks for being part of the swap!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely. I like the last one. And it's a husband's job to tell his wife how wonderful everything is that she makes, including the food!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week Annika!
Well done for meeting your deadline. Your 2nd brooch is fabulous.. such neat stitches.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't think many 6 year olds would be offended by the 1st one, my 6 year old would be chuffed to pieces if she'd have made it.
Beautiful embroidery!
ReplyDeleteLove the stitching, it's so delicate :)
ReplyDeleteI love both of them - they are tickle your heart cute!
ReplyDeletewow such beautiful embroidery. they are both wonderful but agree that your second is extra special. what a lucky recipient to receive these two beauties.
ReplyDeleteThese are both very sweet! The stitching on the second one is just DIVINE. A very cute pattern, beautifully executed! You have a very lucky swap partner!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Annika - I love them both, even the wonky sister of the second one. You've done such a lovely job, making them with care and dedication - fabulous work. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat second one is so pretty! Not that her wonky sister isn't, but you have an obvious lot of talent, what with the perfect stitches on the wreath. And hte heart on the back? Adorable.
